Why AI should not always act on its own
Human-in-the-loop AI is often a better business design than full autonomy.
Generation is not judgement
AI can produce useful drafts quickly, but fluent output is not proof that the information is correct, appropriate or safe to publish.
Use AI for preparation
A robust pattern is to let AI classify, summarise or draft, then ask a person to approve actions that affect customers, money, reputation or access rights.
Design for uncertainty
The system should be able to say “this case needs review”. Confidence thresholds, logs and clear escalation paths are part of the product, not optional polish.
Automation can still save time
Human validation does not cancel the benefit. The machine can remove most of the repetitive preparation while the person focuses on the final judgement.
